Celebrate your English pub on St Georges day

Date released:  19th April 2013
Classic Ice Creams - Minty Cone

Ice creams to increase footfall

Our Classic ice creams are popular- on average they outsell their brand name equivalents. We think this is because of their great quality, and prices which are half that of leading brands.

Independent retailers benefit from a POR of at least 37%, and customers are drawn to the attractive packaging.

So we’re really excited that this month sees the launch of a new Classic Mint Choc Cone, price marked 60p. They’ll be a real winner for the independent retailer this summer.
With flights to Spain costing less than a train ticket to London, and a long run of cold weather and grey skies, it's easy to forget that England is a sought after holiday destination.

Yet more than 30 million tourists visit England each year, and most of us can name at least one spot in the country that is pure heaven, whether it's the North York Moors or the coast of Devon.

As we saw last year, with the Queen's Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics, patriotism is alive and well. Lots of us are proud to be a part of a modern, multi-cultural, diverse England.

And of course, a central part of the English way of life is the pub. English pubs are recreated in cities such as New York and Tokyo, but they're never quite the same.

So if you run a pub in England, there's lots to celebrate on St George's Day. It goes without saying that you should serve beers and ciders made in England. On your next trip to Bookers to pick up catering supplies, make sure you sample some of these great brews:

- Wells Waggle Dance Honey Beer and Wells Banana Bread Beer (From Bedfordshire)
- Fentimans Traditional Ginger Beer (From Newcastle)
- Adnams Southwold Bitter Classic Beer (from Suffolk)
- Meantime London Lager
- Wychwood Brewery Snake's Bite Cider Apple Fruit Beer (Oxfordshire)
- Castle Rock Brewery Harvest Pale the Finest Blonde Beer (Nottingham)
- St. Austell Tribute Beer (Cornwall)
- Marston's Resolution Premium Low Carb Beer (Burton Upon Trent)

These beers taste fantastic served with classic English dishes such as Fish and Chips, Cumberland Pie, Steak and Kidney Pie, Toad in the Hole and traditional roast. We have all the catering supplies you need to create these dishes, and our butchers will be more than happy to advise you on the cuts of meat required. Enjoy!
