Did you know that more than 90 million Easter eggs are sold in the UK each year? These delicious hollow chocolate eggs, which break which a satisfying ‘snap’, are loved by young and old alike.
With sales at Easter time making up an amazing 10% of the total national chocolate spend for the year, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
You’ll find a great range of eggs at your local Booker branch, from old favourites such as Mars and Dairy Milk boxed eggs, to newer releases like Galaxy Easter Pleasure and Maltesers Teasers eggs. For independent retailers, there’s a lot more to a successful Easter than just stocking your shelves. Gavin Needham, our Northampton based Retail Development Manager, has seen a lot of different Easter egg displays in corner shops. His five top tips for independent retailers are:
Don’t wait until just before Easter to put your eggs on display- put them out now, as this when people are buying them.
Go for bold, bulky displays. If possible, dedicate a whole gondola end to Easter eggs.
Keep pricing really clear. The best displays have a shelf for £1 eggs, a shelf for £2 eggs and so on. Use shelf barkers to make this obvious.
If you can’t do this, try filling dump bins with eggs of the same price.
Site £1 eggs and smaller bites such as Cadbury Crème Eggs at the till, and next to newspapers and magazines.
